Process Essay Assignment Purpose
In academia and in business you will have to know how to explain a process. In academia, this could be for a published research paper, describing your method. For business, you could be explaining how something is done.
Task
Subject:
You will write on a topic we have not practiced in class
You will write about a process you already know about or know how to do. This can be either an informational or instructional essay.
Audience:
Your audience can either be business or academic.
For example, you might instruct tourists from your country how to do laundry in America. Or you may give information about how to find the best study abroad program.
Research:
Whatever you do, you will need to do some outside research and have at least one citation (a reference or source) for each body paragraph. You may use Wikipedia.
You will use at least 3 APA style for references for in-text citations and as a bibliography (This is a list of books, articles, or websites you read for any information for this project)
Paraphrase: You will paraphrase (put into your own words) any research information you find. Do NOT COPY!
Length: Between 550-650 words (~2-2.5 pages)
Format: Double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font, left alignment for text, 1 inch margins. Indent the first line of each paragraph.
Evaluation
Your essay will be evaluated for organization, content, expression, grammar, and mechanics.
This essay is worth 100 points and counts for 25% of your grade.
